Midland, Texas — The Midland International Air & Space Port has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the 70,000-passenger mark in a single month for the first time in its history. In June 2024, the airport reported 70,340 passengers boarded flights operated by Southwest Airlines, American Eagle, United, and Delta. This figure represents a 14.25% increase compared to June 2023, reflecting a significant boost in the airport's usage and a testament to the region's growing connectivity.
The record-breaking number is a positive indicator of Midland's economic and tourism growth. Airport officials attribute this surge to improved flight services and increased frequency of flights offered by major airlines.
In a statement, an airport spokesperson remarked, "This achievement underscores the importance of Midland International Air & Space Port as a critical hub for both business and leisure travel. We are committed to continuing to provide top-notch services to our passengers and further enhancing our airport facilities."
