The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Midland is preparing to host its Annual "Blessing of the Badges" on Sunday, September 15, 2024. This event will offer a free BBQ lunch to all police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and anyone who wears a badge in service to their community, regardless of where they serve.

This gathering, which began in 2018 as a small luncheon, has become a beloved tradition. Each year, it brings together first responders and their families for a day of appreciation and fellowship. In 2023, the church served over 200 first responders and their loved ones from across Midland, Odessa, Stanton, Greenwood, and Gardendale. For this year’s event, the church hopes to welcome at least 275 badge-wearers, both local and visiting.

The event will include a special blessing ceremony, where prayers will be offered for the safety and well-being of all first responders. This spiritual aspect of the day highlights the community’s gratitude and support for those who work tirelessly to keep others safe.

As Midland and the surrounding areas continue to grow, the need for strong, supported first responders is more important than ever. The "Blessing of the Badges" serves as a welcoming reminder that the community stands behind those who are first to respond in times of need.
